Dugald River has deployed tablet apps for consistent field data collection, reducing repetitive paper-based administration tasks. The innovation puts an end to the former manual method of collecting and scanning data.

Importantly, using the tablet cuts down on field time, a welcome safety outcome as avoiding heat stress is a priority during the warmer months.

Another benefit with the ALS Compass App is that it scans sample bottles for laboratory identification, doing away with the need to hand write on each one.

In addition, the Esdat P-log App sees field sample parameters entered to the database in real time, so that the system automatically notifies any abnormal results during the logging of samples.

While automatic uploading of images directly to the MMG library is made possible with the Gocanvas app as it delivers valuable auditable inspection records and reports.

In 2021, Dugald River will further explore the capabilities of the apps and continue improving their data collection and verification processes. This will include expanding the capabilities of Esdat, using Gocanvas for more inspections and improving the functionality of ALS Compass to include air quality monitoring, which is currently only available for water sampling.
