Las Bambas to deliver medical oxygen generator to Apurímac hospital

Delivery of generator sped up to support the fight against COVID-19 in Apurímac.

 

As part of its plan to contribute to the fight against COVID-19 in Apurímac, Las Bambas will deliver a medical oxygen generator to regional authorities during the first weeks of September, to help deliver urgent care for patients affected by this disease. 

This generator will be delivered to the Guillermo Díaz de la Vega Hospital, the main hospital in Apurímac located in the capital city of Abancay. The generator has a production capacity of 480 cubic metres (m3) of medical grade oxygen per day and in addition to meeting the requirements of the Apurímac region, it can also provide oxygen to other health networks requiring support.

The advanced delivery of the generator, originally scheduled to be delivered to the Apurímac Regional Government in late September, has been made possible thanks to the support of regional authorities and Las BambasThe generator will support the treatment of patients who are in serious but stable conditionsalleviating the work of medical personnel in the region.

Las Bambas has also been able to acquire five mechanical ventilators. Three ventilators will be delivered to the Apurímac Regional Government and two to the Cusco Regional Governmentall of which will support the care of critically ill patients affected by COVID-19.

The donation of the oxygen generator and ventilators are in addition to ongoing support from Las Bambas to assist with the health response and mitigate the effects of the pandemic in ApurímacTo date, Las Bambas has donated more than 10,250 serology tests to the Apurímac Regional Government, of which 2,600 went to the Cotabambas province. Las Bambas also delivered personal protective equipment for the health sector, the Peruvian National Police, as well as other personnel in the first line of defence against COVID-19 in Cotabambas.

Additionally, Las Bambas has signed agreements with the Challhuahuacho district municipality to make a number of contributions to support efforts against the pandemic, including 5,000 additional serology tests, a large tent with lighting systems, clinical beds, an oxygen concentrator and oxygen cylinders, and additional budget for hiring medical professionals, among other resources. Families in the Cotabambas district were also directly supplied with more than 2,000 cleaning kits (alcohol gel, masks, and soaps) and more than 2,700 baskets with basic necessities.
