Tractors are integral for agriculture production and food supply.

Thanks to a Las Bambas community donation, about 4,500 people spanning 27 communities across the Coporaque district, in the province of Espinar, Cusco region, have a fleet of tractors, harrows and plows to till and plant their land.

Two Massey Ferguson tractors, Agrotrac harrows and Tatu brand plow discs have already arrived. Over coming months, an additional seven tractors will be delivered.

Local authorities, Las Bambas officials and community beneficiaries came together to mark the important occasion. A ceremony highlighted the great respect the region’s people have for the land and their ancestral customs. President of the Coporaque District Defence Front welcomed the Las Bambas’ contribution.

“The 27 communities of the district of Coporaque thank Las Bambas. The tractors and harrows are gratefully received. They demonstrate the importance of ongoing dialogue and working together for the benefit of our brothers,” Raúl Hancco Ccama said.

Paul Orihuela from Las Bambas Community Relations said the delivery is an outcome of ongoing discussions with the region. “This delivery follows dialogue between the municipality and Coporaque district institutions. The machinery strengthens the agricultural plan of the communities and wider population of Coporaque.”
